METROSIDEROS PERFORATA (White Rata)

Metrosideros perforata is a root climber or compact shrub. It will climb tree trunks or cliffs, and where there is no support they will form a compact shrub. It has small compact leaves and masses of white flowers in mid-summer. Flowers are very attractive to bumble bees. Plants that are seed grown tend form a climber if there is something for it to cling to, whereas cutting grown plants from adult material it tends to form a shrub. Grows 1 m high x 1m wide, will tolerate either full sun or semi-shade but requires dry soil. It can be slightly frost tender.
