Lancewood, unusual, juvenile leaves are very long, lanceolate, leathery and serrated on the edges.  Leaves hang down from the stem at an acute angle. Leaves are dark green to reddish brown.  Adult form is a round headed tree. A New Zealand nativewhich is evergreen and frost  hardy to -5°C.
